Private House

ROME, ITALY 2001

The apartment is located on a mezzanine floor of an early twentieth century building, in Prati near Piazza Cavour.

The client’s request, a couple with a child, was to connect the mezzanine to the basement.

With a structural support, the connection was made with the floor below which became a study and TV room. On the mezzanine floor the partitions were demolished, thereby creating a space for the kitchen and the living room, which overlooks the courtyard and the internal terrace.

The two bedrooms on the mezzanine floor overlook the street.

The new floor is in oak parquet, and part of the original grit in the living room is reused in the kitchen and on the internal terrace.
